A Closer Walk With God In My Marriage

(Houston, TX)

A Closer Walk With God In My Marriage: My husband and I have been married for almost three months and it is already a roller-coaster ride. Every time I pray my heart and mind ends up focusing on us developing a deeper relationship with God. As for myself, I have a very close, intimate relationship with God but I know I can be closer and more intimate. My husband says he believes in God and he says he want to go to church and get involved with more married Christian couples (only when I bring it up and ask him about it) I have voiced my concern of wanting him to spiritually lead our marriage but it does not seem to be happening. I pray and read devotionals by myself, I have selected and encourage the family to go to church. My prayer is that I continue to grow in the Lord and that my husband develops a spiritual leadership for our family. My desire is to follow him but I want to be lead in the right direction and right now it's hard for me to show the true respect I know I should have for him. I believe in my heart that once he gets his relationship on track with God then some of our other minimal concerns will go away or we will be able to work them out quicker and easier. Once God is put in the head on both our parts I just know things will begin to fall into place.

God Makes the Necessary Changes
by: Shirley

Serving God and being intimate with Him are personal choices. Yes, they afford us opportunities to read, study, listen to His voice, intercede, and share with others; however, you have to continue praying for your husband. It's God job to get him where He needs to be. Nagging him will only bring more frustration to both of you. You can not force him to take the lead. Thank God for all the steps that he is taking in the right direction. You must allow God the opportunity to minister to your spouse as He sees fit. I'm reminded of the Scripture 1 Peter 3:1-6. As you read these, thank God for the priest he will become in your home. Encourage him when he does take steps in the right direction. I'm praying for you to allow God to deal with both of you!
