Marriage Sex Complaint?

Now, who do you think is doing the complaining, husbands or wives? If you said husbands you're only half right. The truth is, there are just as many wives who go to bed sexually frustrated as there are husbands.

Since you're still reading this page, perhaps you're experiencing one of these problems in your marriage.

We're going to give you a few reasons why this may be happening. But keep in mind this page is not a substitute for medical advice. Neither is it a substitute for sex therapy.

Our hope is to give you new insight and at the very least, spark a conversation between you and your spouse.

• Anemia- the word anemia means "without blood." It's an iron deficiency caused by a deficiency in red blood cells. This can only be diagnosed by a doctor but is easily treated with iron supplements and/or eating more leafy green vegetables.
• Diabetes- a metabolism disorder characterized by abnormally high levels of glucose in the blood. In women, diabetes can cause vaginal dryness and infections that make intercourse painful.
  
• Hyperprolactinaemia- an over active pituitary gland. Characterized by high levels of the hormone prolactin in the blood. In women, this can cause loss of libido, and vaginal dryness among other things.

• Unforgiveness- she forgave you intellectually, but emotionally she's still stuck in the past.
• She Doesn't Feel Loved- feeling loved is a basic human need. And if your wife's emotional needs go unmet, she may become as cold as ice towards you. Your wife must be able to feel your love as you demonstrate it daily in your words and behavior. Other emotional needs she has are: feeling valued, feeling understood, and feeling accepted.
• Loss of Attraction- were you under the impression that your physical appearance no longer mattered to your wife? Well, you might wanna renew your gym membership and visit the cologne counter at the mall . Because how you look and smell are major turn-on's or turn-off's for your wife.
• Loss of Respect and Admiration- for women, sexual desire comes after admiration and respect. If your goal is to entertain your wife by being the the constant clown, you may be shooting yourself in the foot, so to speak. A woman desires a man who she can look up to. If she doesn't look up to you, it doesn't matter how many times you bring her breakfast in bed or wash the dishes. She's not going to desire you physically.
• New Baby Obsession- sometimes new mothers become so enthralled with their new babies that they forget about the needs of their husband. Scheduled date nights might be the answer for this problem.
• She's Burnt Out- does your wife work both in and outside of the home? Does she plan the meals, do the laundry, attend PTA, and work a 9 to 5? Unfortunately, by the time she's done distributing pieces of herself to everyone else, she has nothing left to give you. What's the solution? Simply give her a helping hand more often with things such as dinner and picking up behind yourself. It's a win-win arrangement for both of you.
• Sexual Abuse- if your wife was sexually abused earlier in life but never received professional help, painful memories maybe preventing her from enjoying sexual intimacy with you. Talk to her about the benefits of seeking professional help.

• Hyperprolactinaemia- an over active pituitary gland. Characterized by high levels of the hormone prolactin in the blood. In men, this can cause loss of libido, and erectile dysfunction.
• Low Testosterone Levels- after the age of thirty, it is possible for a man to lose up to two percent of testicular function every year. This correlates to low testosterone levels. Low testosterone levels can eliminate his sex drive and change his mood among other things. This condition is related to aging and is known as andropause.
• High Blood Pressure- over a long period of time, high blood pressure damages the lining of blood vessels and can cause narrowing and hardening of the arteries. This may result in decreased blood flow to the penis and difficulty achieving and maintaining erections.
• Alcoholism and Drug Abuse- sadly, there are many Christians who struggle with substance abuse. If your husband is a drug user, the side effects can be detrimental to his sexual health. Consider a good drug rehabilitation program.

• Wounded Ego- contrary to popular belief, men ARE emotional creatures with very fragile egos. Ladies, your man must feel that you are attracted to him, desire him, and respect him. Have you ever blasted your husband in a fit of rage, i.e., telling him how useless he is? Or, do you constantly rebel and argue with him? If so, this is likely the reason why his passion for you has diminished.
• Fear of Rejection- If you have established a pattern of always rejecting your husband's sexual advances, he may have a fear of being rejected. After a period of time, he feels it's emotionally safer not to initiate sex than it is to risk being rejected again.
• Stress- a decreased sex drive is a frequent complaint of those who are under constant mental stress. A study revealed that people who work more than 48 hours a week experience major problems with their sex lives. There are many techniques for reducing stress. Getting a massage, meditating, exercising, and eating healthier are all practical things your man can do to manage stress.
• Depression- depression evokes feelings of hopelessness and helplessness. If left untreated, depression can cause a person to completely withdraw from social activities and those things they once enjoyed, like sex.
• Loss of Attraction- like many men, your man is visually stimulated. When he sees you looking sweet and sexy, he's gonna want some play time. It doesn't matter if the two of you just had a heated argument. So, take a moment to do a self inventory. Have you put on extra weight? Are you always wearing sweats and sneakers? Do you purposely make yourself look good for your husband? Or, have you let yourself go? Perhaps it's time you made a few adjustments.
