Dora: Prayer for My Marriage

by Dora
(Texas)

My prayer request: Pray for me and my husband. I am so sad. We have been married for 28 years. For the past 3 years or so, our marriage has not been well. My husband drinks beer almost every night; he wants for me to drink with him. Sometimes I do but when I don't want to have another drink, he gets upset. I want to eat dinner and he wants to continue. He gets upset and I know instantly that he is not going to talk to me for days. He will not raise his voice at me or hit me, he will simply not talk to me. He raises his walls and I get the silent treatment. At first, this would hurt me so much and now it seems that I have grown cold and it scares me that I feel this way. Walking on eggshells was what I used do, talking to him is no good as he is not speaking to me. The most recent episodes have been during the Thanksgiving holidays and then again on Saturday night. Please pray for us.

This man is kind and generous and I do love him but when this "thing" takes over him, it takes over him. Like a switch. ONe minute everything is so good and then I say or do something that he doesn't like and up go the walls. He is a good man, he provides well for us, when he is good, I am his queen. When things don't go his way, he makes me feel like I am nothing.

We used to go to church and it was so good. We have not been to church in years and I miss it so much. It is not a priority for him and we only have one vehicle. It's just an excuse. I can change that, in my heart I know that I need to go to church and walk with Him. I feel so disconnected. Please pray for me to do this.
Thank you

Our Prayer for You: Father, in the name of Jesus, we come to you on behalf of Dora. Lord we ask that you would give her peace in the midst of this storm she is going through. Lord we pray for the salvation and deliverance of her husband. Father you said in your Word that it is not your will that any would be lost. So God we pray that you would begin to draw her husband unto yourself and give him a new hunger for the things of God. We pray right now in the name of Jesus that you would remove the taste of alcohol from his mouth to the point that it is no longer pleasurable. We pray wisdom for Dora to know how to be the light that her husband needs and to know how to respond to him in a manner that pleases you. Let Dora know that she is precious and marvelous in your sight. Let her feel your love and know in her times of loneliness that you are there; you will NEVER leave her nor forsake her.

Father, we declare that this situation will be resolved and that this household will serve you and praise you! We declare a new desire for worship and praise to fall on that house in Jesus name. Let your will for their lives and their marriage be manifested. Let the plans of the enemy be defeated. In Jesus Name, Amen!
