Question: Getting Married Due to Pregnancy. We wanted to do things right but found out after we went to go have birth control done that i was pregnant and now we want to get married but have no money at all! is there a place that will help with money to get us married? we just need the money for the marriage licenses. 56 dollars is all but we don't have it.. i have a two year old already and one on the way in October. please help us to do things the right way.. the Christian way..

Answer: Hello Angie, thank you for visiting Christian Marriage Today. We understand your desire to want to do things the "Christian way" but neither of you have been following Christian principles up to this point ( i.e. pre-marital sex). Getting married due to a pregnancy is not the "Christian way" nor is it the best idea at this juncture in your lives. The fact that you don't have the money to pay for a marriage license, is a big indicator of the fact that the two of you should not be seeking to get married.

We suggest you read this page on preparing to get married. If the two of you are not members of a local church, we suggest you find one and seek pastoral counseling. Getting married is not a "must", neither is it a solution for your current situation. Rather than seeking to be married, the two of you should seek to renew your relationships with the Lord. Seek His will for your life. Rebuild your relationship with Him, get financially secure, get premarital counseling and then look to get married. We love you and will be praying for the two of you.
