I Need Christian Marriage Advice

Question:

We are divorced, with a ten year old son, I want my marriage back, he wants to run from God and have fun, and doesn't seem to want to face anything. I love him. How do I love him and stand for marriage, I want it more than anything I trust God He is amazing.

Answer:

Hi Lisa!

We are sorry to hear that you and your husband have divorced. We truly understand your desire to have your marriage back; marriage is honorable in the sight of God.

But we feel compelled to caution you against spending too much of your time focusing on the past, or on a possible future reconciliation. You said that you trust God, well trusting God means you trust Him enough to let go and move on. Does that mean you and your ex-husband will never be reunited? no. It simply means you are giving this situation TOTALLY to God, and focusing your attention elsewhere.

Focus your attention on your relationship with Christ; make sure it's solid. Make sure you have a prayer life and are making time for Bible Study. Develop new friendships, take a dance class, go back to school, or maybe start a business. We don't know what your interests, gifts, or talents are, but our point is that you must focus on YOU and not your ex-husband.


When you pray, don't pray that God would give you your husband back. Pray for your husband's salvation. Also, pray that God's perfect will would be done in your life. "His Kingdom come and His will be done in Your life as it is in Heaven." Why should you not pray for your husband to come back? Because even though you think you know what you want and what's best for you, God knows better. So, ask God for His will to be done not yours.


Let God bring him back in His time, in His way; if He chooses to. Your job is to move on, stay healthy, stay connected to the Body of Christ, and trust that God loves you and knows what's best for you. We love you with the love of God and will be praying for you.
