![]() If he's the one why do I doubt
by Nikki
Question: If he's the one why do I doubt. I know that I love David. And I know he loves me. And easily I can see myself spending the rest of my life with him. However, lately I have had my doubts. Unfortunately, I've always been a doubter, so this isn't completely out of the ordinary for me. But to doubt this really doesn't make sense. My family and friends all love him and his family and friends love me. Several Christians we know at his church (the one where he works as music minister) and mine have said they can see God has brought us together and that He has a plan to use our relationship to bring Him glory and we believe it, too. Yet still, I have this feeling he and I need to go our separate ways. I don?t know why. When I think of breaking up with him, first of all, the idea breaks my heart. We are each other?s best friends and are completely happy in our relationship. It is EXTREMELY rare for us to disagree or fight about anything or even be mad at each other period. We've really only been that way twice in our whole relationship. Second of all, I really do not have a legitimate reason to break up with him, other than this feeling that I am not sure is coming from God. In fact, every time I have prayed to God for some type of conformation or said if He wants us to break up then David will have to initiate it because there is no way I ever could, it has been consistent that David either immediately calls me, texts me, or tells me how much he loves me. Answer: Hi Nikki, sometimes after praying a long time for a particular thing and waiting years for it to happen, we become apprehensive when it finally does manifest in our lives. It's almost as if we have the "This is too good to be true" syndrome. There are a number of possibilities. But the bottom line is this. If you are certain that God has confirmed that David is the one for you, then your fears and doubts can't be from God. God is not schizophrenic :) You say that you have always been a doubter. Did something happen to cause this? Well, we suggest you begin to really pray about and ask God to help you overcome your doubting. You see, doubt is the opposite of faith. And God says that it is impossible to please Him without faith. So you must learn to trust the Lord with all of your heart. Take some time to really focus on rebuilding and strengthening your relationship with Christ. Ask Him to help you to trust Him and to stop doubting so much. Why is this important? This is important because the entire foundation of your Christianity is built on trust/faith in God. Also,if you look throughout the Bible, you will find that while Jesus was here on earth, many times he was unable to perform great miracles because the people doubted. Do you want God to perform miracles in your life? Of course you do. But He can't if you constantly doubt Him. So begin to come against doubt in Jesus Name and replace it with trust in your Heavenly Father. We love you and will be praying God's best for your life. With Christ's Love, Mike and Wanda |
