Is Marriage Reconciliation Possible: I left my husband of 10 years 7 months ago because of his verbal abuse and his anger issues. He had been threatening to divorce me all those 10 years and I told him, you finally got what you wanted so be happy. To begin with it seemed like we might work it out but he has continued with his bad behaviors and we have not spoken in over a month when I told him that things would HAVE to be DIFFERENT if I were to return. My husband was not very good to me in those 10 years and is EXTREMELY self-centered. He did not participate in raising the children, his or mine, and to be perfectly honest, he was gone from 1:00pm - 11:00pm daily to go to work, so has completely missed out on our lives. His daughter accused me of child abuse and had it not been for my female boss, I would be unemployed. I have been accused by this man of stealing money, having affairs, all not true. I had breast cancer when I was younger and when I found a lump several years ago, he threatened to divorce me if he did not get to go to the doctor with me and show the doctor how he was supporting me when he did not at home. My son carries his name and although he is not my son's biological father, at 5 years old he told my son he wasn't which caused a great deal of pain to my son. All this while I worked, full time was the disciplinarian, accountant, housekeeper and did I mention we live on a 10-acre farm with 5 dogs and about 12 animals (horses, sheep, goats, chickens, etc). All of this would lead you to believe that I should just be walking away. Yet despite all that, there is something in my heart that wishes h/we could "figure it out". I try to focus on the work God is doing with us and to be open-hearted about what God's conclusion might be. I believe that God is with us every moment if we just listen and are obedient to his direction. But I am also trying to move forward as I must purchase a home and get on with my life. Thanking you for your prayers and consideration. Praise God for all He does for us! |
