![]() Marriage Story: My True Love was Right Under My Nose

My True Love was Right Under My Nose I met my husband Ken of 4 years in 1998. He was my best guy friend. I am 10 years older than him, so when he asked me out I declined saying, "I have a guideline for myself and I can't date anyone that much younger than me". He looked so sad. I had become divorced after 18 years of a marriage where we became unequally yoked. I had made a decision to follow Christ and he walked away from the Lord the last 10 years of our marriage. My 2nd marriage failed due to our faiths ended up being very different from what each other expected. I felt the Lord was disappointed in me because of 2 divorces. I knew that I wanted to be a helpmate to a Christian man like the Bible says. I started praying to the Lord if He wanted me to ever get married again I would like to be specific in what I wanted in a Christian man. As I was praying I even asked the Lord would it be alright if I was specific about height, eye color, and even a sporty casual style. T-shirts and jeans were okay since I live on a coast by a beach. I also asked the Lord for a kind, loving, Christian man first. The Bible says "Seek ye first the kingdom of God, and all these things shall be added unto you." All of a sudden, I saw in the distance like a vision, a tall man wearing a T-shirt and jean shorts. The vision was blurry, so as I focused the man seemed to be getting closer and closer. Then, I was surprised to see my best guy friend Ken who is 6'2", hazel eyes, casual clothes, and I asked the Lord, " Are you showing me Ken to be a helpmate to? I felt he was saying yes because he had all the qualities I wanted in a man. And he had recently at the time in 2005 rededicated his life back to the Lord! So, I threw my guideline right out the window about age, and here it was 7 years later we dated 2 years, then married in 2007. I always said the third time was the charm, and this time it was God's perfect timing. |
