![]() My Fiance Lost His Job Should We Still Get Married
by Sharon
Question: My Fiance Lost His Job Should We Still Get Married. I've know my fiance for 28 years. I love him. However, he lost his job in May because of something he did wrong. Should we get married on August 14, 2010. Or should we wait. Answer: Sharon, we can only imagine what a shock this must have been for you. But it's not the end of the world. We say, as long as the two of you can pay for the wedding, have a place to stay, and money for food then go ahead and get married. However, we suggest you proceed with caution. How? By planning ahead. You must have a plan of survival in place for the next 3mos., 6mos., 12mos., and 18mos. It is necessary to do this because you don't know how long it's going to take your fiance to find employment. This is an unexpected event that married couples deal with all the time. In fact, it's something we dealt with early on in our marriage. But the vows that the two of you are about to take are 'for better or worse'. Being fired from a job definitely fits into the 'worse" category but it's just a part of life. We're not saying this is going to be easy, because it won't be. It's going to be a challenge. But it can also be an opportunity for the two of you to draw closer to each other and closer to the Lord. If you pray constantly and plan properly we believe you can overcome this.
