My Husband is a Minister

Question: My husband is a minister but wants to separate after 27 years of marriage because he cannot forget something that happened 16 years ago and he also said that I have a communication problem so he goes and say that he found someone he can communicate with and he wants to be free to go where ever he wants with no attachments. Help me out with this one. Is it worth me trying to keep this marriage? I really want to try but I don't know what to do it has taken a toll on me.

Answer: Hello Dear Sister. We are saddened by the situation you find yourself in. And even more heart broken by the news that your husband is a minister. But not even ministers are immune to the problems of life or tricks of the enemy. You asked if it was worth you trying to keep your marriage. The answer is "yes" and "no". Yes, marriage is definitely worth saving. But both people must being willing to stay on board and do the work.

Your husband seems to have already checked out. And honestly, when there is a third party involved it complicates things even the more. In situations like this, marriage counseling even becomes difficult because one partner is already emotionally invested in someone else.

This is what we recommend you do. First, because your husband is a minister, it is imperative that your Pastor be informed as to his behavior. God has placed him as a Spiritual father over the two of you. And therefore he should, at the very least, have an opportunity to provide Pastoral counseling.

Lastly, unfortunately you do not have the power to change your husband's heart, only God can do that. So at this point, after speaking to your Pastor, you must take your hands off of it and let God do what you can not. Leaving it at the foot of the cross will be extremely difficult but it's not an option. There is nothing more you can do.
