Overcoming Jealousy in Your Marriage

Why? Because jealousy can destroy your relationship. Imagine for a minute how your jealousy makes your spouse feel.

They probably feel as if they are constantly walking on egg shells; knowing that the slightest little thing is likely to send you into a tail spin.

Living this way is exhausting for your mate because there is nothing they can do to fix the problem no matter how hard they try.

The New Webster's Dictionary provides the following definition of the word jealousy; uneasy through fear of.

Fear? that's right, fear. You should find that definition particularly interesting because the Bible says that God has not given us a spirit of fear, 2 Timothy 1:7.

So, if God doesn't send fear upon us, then who does? That's right, Satan. Fear is one of Satan's favorite weapons when it comes to defeating the Children of God.

But keep in mind that Satan is a defeated foe. But you on the other hand, are an overcomer by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of your testimony!

That's right, you are an overcomer. But the process of overcoming begins with being well informed. In other words, understanding the underlying cause of your jealousy is important if you want ot gain victory over it.

It's like a doctor attempting to treat a patient for chronic pain before discovering the source of the pain. Sure, he can prescribe medications for the pain but the real problem would remain untreated.

Likewise, if you do not understand from where your jealousy stems, you will not be able to deal with it appropriately.

And deal with it you must. Because if left unattended it WILL cause a breakdown of your marriage.

Jealousy causes the most heated of arguments, tears down communication, and builds up a wall of bitterness between you and your spouse.
