Premarital Sex Question: I met someone recently...he talks bout marriage ...we click...spiritually & intellectually...but I am traditional he is a independent thinker....I'm very attracted to him...he thinks intention is what matters...I know God looks at the heart....I have strong feelings for him & hope marriage will happen.....this sex thing is a problem..I've been taught its not okay...he thinks it is...I am having a hard time resisting...what do I tell him? Answer: The Bible does not say you will go to Heaven if you have good intentions. The Bible has CLEAR guidelines for how we are to live our lives. If you have not read our page about sex before marriage, you may want to start there. Jesus said if we love him we will keep his commands (John 14:23). Simply put, your obedience to God is a demonstration of your love for Him. Also, your boyfriend does not sound as if he is rooted in the Word of God. Or has a relationship with Christ. You said the two of you clicked spiritually, but is he saved? Has he accepted Christ as his Savior? If he has, the two of you should begin attending church and Bible study regularly so that you can become more knowledgeable about the will of God. Also, we want to commend you for doing things God's way. God will honor you for that. And finally, don't be stressed about how this guy will react if you don't give-in to Him. If he is not on the same page as you, believing in the same things. Then the truth is, he is not the one. Continue to trust God and obey His commands and you will be blessed. Love in Christ, Mike and Wanda |
