Preventing Divorce in Christian Marriage
![]()
When it comes to preventing divorce, even the worst marriage can be saved.
"Yeah, but my relationship is really troubled, you say. You don't know the hurtful things we've said and done to one another." You're absolutely right, we don't know but God does. He has been with you the entire time. He was there when unspeakable words were spoken, and dishonorable acts were commited. He was there when you were out of control with anger. And He was there when tears soaked your pillow in the still of the night. Not only was He there, He's here with you right now. He's waiting to restore your broken spirit. He wants to heal your deepest hurts. You see, where God is concerned, there is no such thing as irreconcilable differences. God can repair your heart and the heart of your spouse even if they've been shattered into a thousand jagged pieces. Avoiding divorce isn't a matter of "Can God?" It's a matter of "Will you?" Will you forgive your spouse for what you thought was unforgiveable? Will you continue to try even when you don't feel like you can? Will you give 100% even if it's not reciprocated? Will you accept the fact that you are both imperfect individuals? Will you cleave to your spouse even if they push you away? My friend, these are all things Christ does for you on a daily basis. If you are willing to nail your pride to the cross, and make Christ the head of your life and the head of your relationship, then you are well on your way to preventing divorce. God is definitley able. The question is are you willing?
