Responsibilities in the Household
by Chris

Question: Responsibilities in the Household. If the man of the house works two full time jobs and the woman stays at home what should be expected of him in the household? What should be expected of her in the household?
Additional info: Children are teens and live at home. No little ones. We attend church on Sunday and bible study on Tues. Day job is Mon through Fri and night job is Wed through Sat.
Answer: Typically, the wife will bare the responsibility for the majority of the housework. That is, if she's at home all day. Currently, Minister Wanda is at home during the day and I work. So, with the exception of taking out the trash, she does all of the household chores. I try to pick up behind myself, and pitch in here and there if it's needed. I don't have the attitude that "I'm not going to do anything." I just help whenever she needs it. Oh, I forgot about the dishes. Because she cooks every night, I don't expect her to wash the dishes too. So, my son and I take turns washing the dishes.
Chris, each situation is unique. I don't work two jobs like you. So, you and your wife must come to an agreement that makes sense for the two of you. But it is our opinion that the person at home and the teenage children, should have the MOST responsibility when it comes to chores regardless of how many jobs the husband has. But especially if he's working two jobs.
Hope that helps. Thank you for visiting Christian Marriage Today.
Be Blessed, Mike
