Working Through Marriage Problems

by HL
(Denver, CO)

Working Through Marriage Problems. I pray for my husband and I to be present with each other. I pray that we can learn together what our insecurities are and build each other up and look towards each other rather then looking outside for reassurance. I pray that no matter how difficult it is that we communicate our fears and insecurities. I pray for honesty and trust in our marriage. It isn't easy, but I respect and love my husband more then anything else and want to build on our 18 years together. I am not sure that we are both moving in the same direction anymore and I don't know what to do about it. So I pray for him. I pray that he can figure out what he is looking for in his life. I pray that I have the strength to move forward with mine - and continue to set a strong example for our children.

Living in Limbo Land
by: Joy

I can so relate to the last comment on here. My husband has been working out of town off and on for over a year. This time he has been gone for almost three months without us seeing him. A year ago he had an emotional affair which tore me apart. I still haven't got over it and he doesn't want to talk about it. Now, he is gone and doesn't hardly want to talk to me. He says he's in a state of depression, mad about money and isn't happy. Although, he realizes that I'm not the only reason he's not happy he still doesn't hardly speak to me on the phone and when he does it is very brief. He admits that he is running from the Lord and stated he doesn't know if he believes in him anymore. I am trying so hard to believe that he isn't having an affair but it is extremely difficult with the way he acts. We have two beautiful children that I am trying to stay strong for. I have been praying non stop but what do I do about the way I feel, empty and confused. Please help me!

Teach by Example
by: Shirley G

First, let me begin by encouraging you to pray for God's perfect will concerning your marriage. According to what you've written, you are not sure that you and your spouse are walking the same path. Well, you are not responsible for your husband's walk-only your own. Keep your eyes, heart, and mind fixed on Jesus. Study God's word and read 1 Peter 3:1-6; Romans 12:14-21; 1 Corinthians 13:1-33 and other Scriptures that give instructions to strengthen you. Find a Godly counselor who will pray and help you intercede for your husband and your marriage. Keep the faith. God's is working things out for your good. Trust in the Lord with your heart. Lean not to your own understanding, and in all thy ways acknowledge Him, and He will direct your path. Teach your children, by your example, to love and respect their father because they are watching your attitude. Believe God because He knows what he's doing. Remember, all things work together for the good of them who love the Lord and are called according to his purpose. Again, you must totally trust God in all situations that you face.
